Biography
Graduate and sometime Professor of English at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. Former garden historian for Colonial Williamsburg.
Boswellian impact
Martin has written excellent biographies of James Boswell (A Life of James Boswell (1999)), Edmond Malone and Samuel Johnson, although they lack the thorough annotations which characterise the earlier two-volume Yale biography by Frederick Pottle and Frank Brady.
