Allan Ingram
Ingram took his first degree and doctorate at the University of Nottingham, and has been a Professor of English at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle since 1993.
He is an expert in 18th century topics, and has published works on Boswell, Swift and Pope as well as on the subject of "mad writing"in England.
Ingram's first book, based on his PhD thesis, was Boswell's Creative Gloom, in which he discusses the paradox which links depression and creativity.
He has also authored the article "Political Hypochondria: The Case of James Boswell"1
