William Mackenzie - prior at Würzburg
Son of Kenneth Mackenzie of Assynt and Frances Mackenzie (dau of Alexander Mackenzie of Conansbay). A student from the Scots College at Douai and sometime prior of the Scots monastery, St. James's Abbey, in Würzburg.1
Identified by Boswell only as "Mr. Mackenzie a relation of the Seaforth family who has been a very long time abroad [...] and spoke french like a Parisian". 2
Mackenzie waited on Boswell at Dresden on October 12, 1764, and it is uncertain whether the two ever met more than this one time.
Unless otherwise noted, the source for a dated quotation of Boswell's is generally the corresponding volume of the Yale Trade Editions of Boswell's journals.
