It has been announced, that Sky Arts has commissioned a new mini-series, Boswell & Johnson’s Scottish Road Trip, based on James Boswell's and Dr Johnson's trip through Scotland to the Hebrides.
The unscripted series will consist of three episodes of 60 minutes each, in which we follow comedian Frank Skinner and crime-writer Denise Mina as they try to recreate Boswell and Johnson's 1773 journey. According to realscreen.com, the pair will "will travel around the coast of Scotland via carriages, horses and boats in keeping with the 18th-century voyage."1
Frank Skinner (b. 1957) is an English writer and comedian, who most recently hosted the BBC comedy show Room 101 from 2012 until 2018. In 1991 he won the Perrier Award (now known as the Edinburgh Comedy Awards) for the best comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in that year.
Denise Mina (b. 1966) is a Scottish author of crime and comedy novels, who in 2012 won the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award for The End of the Wasp Season .
